All teamthing websites now allow you to add a fully customized header to your site.

 

Adding a customized header to your website is easy; you can choose a completely customized header or choose to overlay your site title and logo/badge over a simple background.

 

Adding a fully customized header

A fully customized header is a single image which usually contains a background, your club name, and your club badge, that you can then place in the header of your website.

Some teams find this kind of header preferable to a simple background header upon which you can overlay your club badge and name (discussed in the next section) due to the control you have over fonts and text placement.

To add a customized header to your site just use the following steps:

 

Step 1: Upload your image.

Once you have created your header image it is time to upload it to your site.

• Log into your dashboard.
• Click the Appearance>Header menu option to open the ‘Header’ screen.

• Choose or upload your image. From the header screen you can choose to upload a new image file (by clicking the ‘Choose File’ button, selecting a file, then clicking the ‘Upload File’ button) or select from one of the files already in your media library.

Remember to click the ‘Set as header’ link in the media dialog box.

 

Step 2: Resize & Crop

• Once the image has been selected you will be allowed to crop or resize the image to fit the header (the default size of the image for your them will already be selected, it is recommended that you do not resize this area).
• Once you are satisfied with the position of the cropping area click the ‘Crop And Publish’ button.

Step 3: Save & View

• Click the ‘Save’ button at the bottom of the screen.
• Go to your live website, refresh the page and view the result.

 

 

Overlay your site name and tagline over your header

If your header image does not contain your club name and/or tagline you can add these to appear on top of your new header image.

 

Step 1: Set your site title and site tag line

The text that will be overlaid on your image will be the site title and tag line(found in your Settings>General screen)

 

Step 2: Tick the ‘Header text’ checkbox

• Open the heading screen again (Appearance>Heading).
• Tick the ‘Header Text’ check box.

Step 3: Set the text color

Choose the text color using the ‘Text Color’ area.

 

Step 4: Save and review

 

 

Overlay your club badge over your header

Not only can you overlay your site name and tagline over your custom header, but you can also overlay your club logo.

 

Step 1: Upload your logo

• Open the ‘Theme Options’ screen by selecting the ‘Appearance>Theme Options’ menu item.
• Click the ‘Upload Image’ button and choose your logo image.

 

Step 2: Save & Review

Click the ‘Save’ button and view the changes on your live site.
